History of the Exhibition
The members of Pink Floyd collaborated with curator Aubrey Powell to develop this exhibition that transports guests into the band’s life and career through five decades, from 1967 to the 2000s. The exposition has travelled across Europe and North America and has been presented in 6 different metropolitan cities such as London, Rome, Madrid, and Los Angeles just to name a few.
2017
London, United Kingdom - Victoria and Albert Museum
The exposition made its debut in London on May 13th, 2017, at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and was set to run until October of the same year. Due to its high popularity and record attendance, the opening hours, as well as the exhibition, were extended for another two weeks to meet the demand. Over the course of the event, more than 350 000 tickets were sold.
2018
Rome, Italy - Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome
The expo then made its way to Rome in Italy, where it opened its door on January 19th, 2018 at the Museum of Contemporary Art. As a second stop through its journey, the exhibit presented all the pieces already shown in London as well as some new additions. Nick Mason and Roger Waters both attended the opening of the exhibition in Italy.
2018-2019
Dortmund, Germany - Dortmunder U
On September 15th, 2018 the exposition opened in Dortmund, Germany. The Pink Floyd Exhibit: Their Mortal Remains at the Dortmunder U lasted until February 2019, and became the most visited exhibition in the history of the museum.
2019
Madrid, Spain, IFEMA Espacio 5.1
The final European city to host the exhibition was Madrid in Spain. The exposition was presented at the IFEMA from May 19th, 2019 to October 27th, 2022. Spain also benefited from a month-long extension for a total of 170 consecutive days, a record for the exhibition.
2021
Los Angeles, United States - Vogue Multicultural Museum
After being presented in Europe for 3 years across 4 different countries, the exhibition made its way across the Atlantic Ocean for the very first time and found a new home at the Vogue Multicultural Museum in Los Angeles from May to October 2019.
2022
Montréal, Canada - Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal
In November of 2022, the exhibition made its way to Montréal, Canada, a historical city in Pink Floyd’s story. On November 4th, the doors will open for the last time at Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal.
